Nanoplasmas is a spin-out of NCSR “Demokritos” that is active in the development of innovative lab-on-a-chip devices for the rapid detection of bacteria and biomolecules. Recently, the company focused its research on the development of a new lab-on-a-chip to detect Legionella’s bacteria in water. The company was funded by Uni.Fund for product refinement, trial use of the product by a large bioanalytical laboratory and its introduction to the market.
Uni.Fund is a member of the EquiFund portfolio. EquiFund is an initiative created by the Hellenic Republic in cooperation with the European Investment Fund (EIF) co-financed by the EU and national funds, as well as from the EIF. Katerina Pramatari, Partner of Uni.Fund, said: “At Nanoplasmas we have found a unique technology, as well as academics with an entrepreneurial mindset that have managed to stay close to the market. We strongly believe in Nanoplasmas’ potential for the success of the water analysis venture the group is now targeting, but also to expand its operations to other areas where technology is already being tested with great success.”
