IMD Laboratories was initially established in 1987 as a biodiagnostics centre that could offer the general public a full spectrum of customized diagnostic services as well as medical consultation. Since 2017 a new unit with a focus in research and development was established.

IMD laboratories in offers commercial services in the following areas:

• Clinical chemistry: special chemistry, immunohistochemistry, toxicology
• Medical microbiology: bacteriology, mycobacteriology, parasitology, mycology, serology, virology

It’s research and development section aims to explore and develop novel diagnostic tools and in specific electrochemical biosensors devices for Point-of-Care Diagnostics, as well as specifically engineered biosensing nanoparticles. Within this frame the recently developed the novel TiO₂ based Nabipore^TM working electrodes that are trademark pending in the UK and Greece and can adsorb biomolecules on their surface without altering their activity or stability.
